a2sat Quick Guide to the use and warranty of your satellite digital system.

The Freesat digi boxes are very easy to use and almost all of the answers for the navigation of the system are very often displayed on the TV screen.

Your digi box is post code defaulted to the Channel Islands as the BBC1 and ITV1 transponders are the strongest and will provide you with the best reception possible, although you can watch a good selection of other regions of BBC1 and ITV1

As with all of our installed systems we cannot guarantee the following television and radio channels, due to the fact that these channels are on weak transponders and is harder to pick up without using very large satellite dish.

BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, Cbeebies, CBBC, C4 (see notes below), Film 4,  FIVE, Radio 5 Live, Talk Sport There may be one or two other channels missing due to dish size and or location, which is very critical.

(for C4 there are two options C4+1 which is one extra hour behind the UK. TT on 4 which is was a test transmission for C4 has now ceased

When we install your dish we do try our very best to tune in the BBC2 transponder, because, as this is such a weak signal, if our test equipment show it trying to come in, we know that the dish is fully focused to give the best possible reception at all times for the rest of the freesat service.

ITV 1,2,3,4 is all available on 1.4m 1.9m & 2.4 dishes

If you are fortunate to receive any of the above channels, (in Pink) the times that they are watchable and stable ie free running and not picture freezing or breaking up will depend on many things, weather, time of day or night & distance you are from the actual dish.

It is accepted that in this part of Spain (Torrevieja area) the best time to see BBC2 etc is from about 7.30pm until 10.30pm ie most stable, so anything outside of these times is a bonus.

Late at night and or during bad weather conditions channel quality may vary, which is beyond our control as the signal for English TV is tightly focused onto the United Kingdom and was never intended for us to use here in Spain, hence the big dishes to collect the weak signals.

Community systems & shared dishes.

With all community & shared systems, we have to balance the signal received between each level or property, in theory each property should receive the same but it is possible that some channels may vary, this is mainly due to the distance the cable has to run. We do use the best possible cable & equipment to maintain signal quality and strive to provide the best service possible.

Help Q & A

Q. I turned on the TV and have no picture?

A. Check that the power is on to the digi box.

Check that the digi box is on (ie blue light is off)

Check that the TV has the right source input selected (ie ext1, HDMI 1or others, the inputs vary due to what was available to us at installation)

Check that the coax lead is connected to the digi box and that the lead going from the digi box to the TV is correctly connected.

Q. No sound or I have sound but no picture?

A. Check the volume controls on both the TV and Digi box

and check that the scart or HDMI cable is correctly connected.

Q. I have done all of the above and still nothing?

A. If you are in a shared system, check with someone who is also sharing and see if they have a picture, if they have, unplug from the electricity supply (always use caution when using plugs and sockets and as always with all electricity) your digi box and wait 2 minutes and then plug it back in and take the digi box out of standby (blue light off) and go though the above list once again.

If you and or your other sharers still do not have a picture then you will need assistance from a2sat

In the unlikely event that a product fails,

During the first year from installation, we offer a free callout service, this covers any labour to rectify, adjust or replace faulty equipment only.

Community systems that use our Elcon Master Launcher systems, benefit from a five year replacement parts warranty on the launcher and multi switches.

If during the first year any Elcon parts fails or requires adjusting (ie master launcher) this is covered free of charge of any required labour. After the first year labour is charged but all Elcon parts remain under warranty for a further four years.

After the first year from installation all callouts are charged at 40€ for the first hour and 40€ for each and every extra hour.

Should we be called out to any installation that, only requires action by the customer in the Q&A section, we would charge 40€ for the call out which includes the first hour.

Most issues of the system not working are rectified by following the simple steps in the Q&A section.

If you just require help or advice over the telephone this is naturally free of charge and we are always very happy to assist with any queries.
